Seattle Woman Fatally Struck By Car After Falling From Overpass Identified

A tragic incident unfolded early Friday morning when a woman fell from an overpass onto Interstate 5 and was struck by a car, resulting in her death. The victim has been identified as Sylvia Rose, a 21-year-old resident of Seattle, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The incident occurred shortly before 2 a.m. when a Washington State Patrol trooper noticed an individual lying in the left lane of southbound I-5 near the Madison Street overpass. Medics were called to the scene, but unfortunately, Sylvia Rose was pronounced dead upon their arrival.

An investigation conducted by the Washington State Patrol revealed that Rose had fallen from the Madison Street overpass onto the freeway, where she was tragically hit by a passing vehicle. WSP detectives are now seeking witnesses with any information or dashcam footage that could assist in identifying the vehicle involved in the incident, as it left the scene.

In response to the incident, the southbound lanes of I-5 at Madison Street were closed for three hours and 20 minutes to allow troopers to conduct a thorough investigation. As investigators continue their efforts to gather more information, the circumstances surrounding her fall from the overpass onto Interstate 5 are still being examined.

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is actively seeking witnesses who may have seen the incident or have any information that could help identify the vehicle responsible for striking Sylvia Rose. Dashcam footage from motorists who were in the vicinity at the time is particularly valuable in assisting with the investigation.
